I’ve been working with the web since it existed. I’ve developed optimization for websites of any size and topic. In more than 20 years of professional activity I’ve cumulated a wide experience that I now share within training workshops and courses or international conferences.

Massimo and I thought to organize SMXL Milan 2016 by focusing on the concrete needs of the conference participants: digital marketing is no more a secondary asset, and it’s now at the center of any brand positioning and business development strategy.

The internet industry has many needs, and we know that conference participants need to gain strategical know-how that they can implement in real time. Long term strategies with an outlook in the contingency: this is what people who attends conferences need.

SMXL Milan will be a yin-yang of strategy and operations: SEO, Social Media and Search Advertising merge in two full immersion days where practical online marketing topics get explained also from an analytic standpoint. There is no development without knowledge. There is no knowledge without study.

SMXL Milan 2016 will merge past and present - there is no future without the past, from which there is a lot to learn. We want to go beyond slogans and “buzzwords” to offer the best of Italian Web Marketing in all its variations, with a selection of international speakers to enrich the exchange of ideas and opinions, and for good old networking!

After more than 10 as speaker, keynote or chairman at internet marketing conferences around the world, it is always a great pleasure coming back to Italy to participate to a world-class digital marketing event.

It is certainly also an honor to be invited as Chairman, working with a friend like Sante, which whom I shared many conferences and adventures on planet search (included the launch of SEMPO Italia), and with a powerful organization with a large experience in conference organization such as Business International and the Fiera Milano Group.

With Sante, I committed to arquitect and orquestrate content, inspirations and business networking at SMXL Milan 2016 with the goal of positioning the conference as the reference event in Italy for the professional community of Italian search and social media marketers, online marketers and experts of digital communication.

Who knows me knows that I’ve always been an advocate for knowledge sharing. The curatorial cut we are giving to the conference sets high bars for content quality - no sales pitches, and no “let me tell you how cool we are but I won’t tell you how we did it“.

My personal challenge as SMXL Chairman, and my “brand promise” for SMXL Milan 2016 is to bring to the Italian digital marketing industry a program of highly professional and inspirational sessions, offering actionable content both at strategic and tactical levels, and capable of maximizing interaction between speakers and attendees.

CHAIRMAN BIO: SANTE ACHILLE

Sante has a degree in Engineering and works around Web and Web Marketing since 1995, after an international corporate experience in the aerospace industry that lasted 9 years.

His vast experience matured in 28 years of professional activity make him a practical and concrete person, he likes “to get his hands dirty” and do things - he says that it’s the only way to learn.

Sante has analyzed and optimized hundred of sites of small enterprises and big multinational corporations - he knows that the critical factors for the success of any Web Marketing initiative are the fruit of a compromise that take in consideration all the variables that make a company run.

Sante is often speaker at italian and international Search Marketing events, and teaches Web Tecnologies at the Academy of Belle Arti of L’Aquila. He has previously collaborated as Web Marketing teacher for the Università degli Studi di Firenze for their Multimedia Content Design Masterclass, teaches SEO at several training workshops, and has a Web Marketing blog about web tecnologies, where he writes when he has some time.

Sante is a social and curious person: L’Aquila’s earthquake of 2009 has deeply changed his way of seeing things… two words that describe him well are pragmatism and creativity.

CHAIRMAN BIO: MASSIMO BURGIO

Massimo Burgio è un esperto su temi di search, social media e interactive marketing riconosciuto in campo internazionale, speaker frequente e moderatore/chairman per conferenze di online marketing in tutta Europa, negli Stati Uniti e Asia-Pacific, inclusi circuiti “abituali” quali SES (Search Engine Strategies Conference), SMX (Search Marketing Expo), International Search Summit, e WebCongress, ma anche conferenze (e unconferences) più piccole organizzate in tutta Europa da associazioni professionali e poli tecnologici.

Massimo è stato tra i membri fondatori di SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) nel 2003, e dal 2006 Membro eletto del Board of Directors (per tre termini consecutive, in carica fino al 2012), oltre ad aver ricoperto la carica di Chairman di Comitati quail SEMPO Global e SEMPO Europe ed essere stato in prima linea per il lancio di SEMPO Italia. Oltre a gestire con successo strategie e campagne per clienti italiani ed internazionali, Massimo è attivo internazionalmente dal 2010 come docente su temi di search e social media marketing per Master in università pubbliche e istituzioni private.

Educazione. Massimo ha integrato una Laurea in Comunicazione di Marketing conseguita tra Università La Sapienza di Roma, Hertfordshire University – Business Campus (UK) e Facultad de Economicas - Universidad de Oviedo (Spagna), con corsi post-laurea e di specializzazione alla Berkeley University (California, USA) e altri centri di studio internazionali. Come per tutti i professionisti dell’internet marketing, la formazione per Massimo continua su basi quotidiani attraverso continui studi e ricerche indipendenti, e certamente l’alta frequenza di partecipazione a conferenze di settore aggiunge il vantaggio di poter discutere sulle ultime strategie e tattiche di online marketing direttamente con i principali esperti internazionali.

Esperienza. Ai primi passi in ambito professionale (1990) come advertising copywriter, Massimo Burgio ha fatto seguire esperienze nel direct marketing tradizionale (1991) e nella comunicazione di eventi culturali (1992), per approdare al mondo web sin dai primi segni di avvio dell’industria internet in Italia, lavorando su progetti di editoria web (1994), IT security (1995) e internet privacy (1996).

Agenzia. Dopo aver supportato il lancio di alcuni tra i principali portali web italiani (Kataweb, Wind, RAI Net – 1996-1998), Massimo è passato “agency-side” come Marketing Director di due tra le principali agenzie italiane di interactive marketing (Deepend Italia, Xister, 1998-2002). Nel 2003 si trasferisce a San Francisco per il lancio della sede californiana dell’agenzia di search engine marketing Ad Maiora, e in seguito per lanciare la filiale West Coast dell’agenzia texana di interactive/search marketing Zunch (2005).

Consulenza. Nel 2006, Massimo crea Global Search Interactive (GSI), agenzia di consulenza e servizi che aiuta grandi brand B2B e B2C dei settori lifestyle, education, finance e technology a generare “engagement” con la propria utenza attraverso l’integrazione di strategie organiche di search, interactive e social media marketing. GSI supporta anche agenzie di online marketing attraverso consulenza ad hoc, formazione e servizi di supporto per campagne di online marketing dei propri. I clienti GSI includono, tra gli altri, Academia Barilla, Oracle Italia, Telepass, Giovanni Rana, Pitti Immagine, Dialogo Assicurazioni e European School of Economics.

Etica. Nel 2015 Massimo lancia Truly Social, divisone “etica” di GSI per offrire consulenza e servizi di digital marketing ad associazioni, organizzazioni, ONG, business etici e sostenibili, e progetti culturali, sociali, ambientali e di difesa dei diritti umani. Tra i clienti di Truly Social vi sono l’Università di Nuoro, il MART – Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Rovereto e Trento, Milano Fiera Media, un master post-laurea della Plymouth University (UK) all’intersezione tra arte e tecnologia, un Presidio Slow Food, un centro spirituale, e vari progetti in ambito artistico e culturale.
